Born in Malta (1978), Victor Emmanuel Jacono is a theatre artist, educator and researcher. He obtained a Ph.D. in Performance Studies at the University of Rome, “La Sapienza” (2012), with a thesis on knowledge processes and action, relating the performer’s pedagogy, complexity theories and cognitive neuroscience. A member of the joint European Master in the Science of Performative Creativity academic team from 2007 to 2013, he has trained with the Maltese theatre scholar and director-pedagogue John J. Schranz, working with Groups for Human Encounters as performer and trainer until 2009. Participating in various international academic and performance projects, Jacono has addressed conferences, seminars and held workshops in actor training and dramaturgy, working in collaboration with Astragali Teatro (Lecce), Teatro Ridotto (Bologna) and Fractals (Athens), among others. Since December 2011 Jacono is also a founding member of the new Italian Centre of UNESCO’s International Theatre Institute (ITI), operating mainly in the sectors of Youth and Education.
